While writing up instructions on how to build a Leopold Bench for kids, I realized that there are a lot of shop tips and techniques that may not be self evident. Little things that you pick up over time. Stuff that you discover on your own, or learn from others.
Most of these tips are bits of knowledge. Stuff that isn’t worth writing a full blog article on, but are useful nonetheless. And so I came up with the idea of the Sixty Second Shop.
The goal is to present a series of videos, each only 60 seconds in length, which attempt to teach a key skill, technique, or apparatus.
The sixty second limit is by design. I didn’t want to recreate the (many) excellent how-to videos out there. I want instead to provide bits of knowledge that you can tuck away in your mind. Stuff that will hopefully make you more proficient in the shop.
This is a learning experience for all of us. I don’t claim to be a shop expert. I’m more a dabbler. But I’ve picked up some things that you may find useful. Enjoy.
